Prepare to be swept away by a talented debut author with a passionate, powerful story to tell.
They meet on a beach. . . . Abby Davis isn’t wearing a skimpy bikini or sipping umbrella drinks, not when she’s busy chasing around four little ones. And Matt McKinney isn’t looking for fun—he’s a Navy SEAL, a grown man with a long list of missions . . . and fallen brothers.
They only have a week. . . . Abby has brought her children to this beach to start over, to give them the enjoyable memories they deserve. Matt’s been sidelined by a combat injury, and haunted by the best friend he lost and the promise he made: to remain a SEAL—focused and dedicated. This leaves no time for what he’s always wanted: a family.
But a week is all it takes. . . . Matt opens her heart while Abby soothes his soul. And though they plan to say good-bye when the week is over, something magical happens on that beach, something neither can forget. Something utterly, completely worth falling for.

This book kept me up all night- and in the best way possible! I could not put it down. You ever get that feeling when you're reading a book when your heart is thumping so hard in your chest and your cheeks hurt from smiling? (If you haven't just nod your head anyway and humor me for now)
That was me from the beginning to end of this book.
So much swoon packed into this book. Alert the media: I just found another book boyfriend!
Matt McKinney is a Navy Seal who ends up at the beach trying to figure out how to relax while still fighting the memories of losing his best friend. At 34, he is still torn between the life he's living as a SEAL and the life he wants... a life full with the love of his very own family. He finds himself drawn to a beautiful woman on the beach.
Not too shocking right?
Well this woman isn't alone, she's brought along her four children and a quickly noticed pregnant belly.
(stay with me now...)
Abby just wants to have a week to enjoy the beach with her children. After becoming a widow, she's determined to have everyone know that she is fine, she has always been fine, and she doesn't need help from anyone.
She is going to be FINE.
Then she meets Matt.
Matt can't stay away. He soon finds himself spending the entire week with her. He falls for her children just as he feels himself falling for her. A week isn't enough and he knows that what he always wanted, just may have become what he found.
"But at some point everything inside him had shifted. Abby had gone from the kind of woman he'd want if he ever settled down to the woman."
Abby's life thus far has made her put up a wall. She'd rather push people away than wait to be abandoned; leave before you're left. Matt's job as a SEAL means he would leave her, over and over again. But something about the way he loves her children... the way he loves her... makes her want to have the one thing she never had from anyone except her kids. Real love and a real family. But can she figure out a way to leave her past out of her future? Especially when her future now affected the lives of five little ones.
"Would they all grow up to be like that? Like herself? Too afraid to reach for more because they were afraid of falling?"
The more time they spend together the more Matt realizes that he doesn't want to be anywhere else but with Abby and the kids who stole his heart. But he still has the promise he made to his fallen best friend... He is faced with a difficult choice to make, a choice between a promise he made in his past and a woman who stopped believing in promises long ago.
"I don't want to hurt you, baby, I swear, but please don't ask me to let you go. Give us a chance. Give me a chance."
There's something about a man like Matt.
Big, Strong, Handsome & Sexy stepping in and loving children the way they deserve. He stakes claim on them as his and is so heart achingly sweet and protective. I swear my heart burst with affection for him too many times to count. I loved his collective love for them just as much I adored the individual approaches he took to each child... especially with sweet Annie!
Such a sweet and swoon-filled love story, with a tearjerker of a sweet moment at the end... seriously aww inducing!
Cannot wait for more of the McKinney Brothers!!
