Luke Boone doesn't know exactly what his uncle Rust is involved in but he wants in on it-the cars, the money, the women. And it looks like he's finally getting his wish. When Rust hands him the managerial keys to the garage, they come with a second set-one that opens up the door to tons of cash and opportunity. Though it's not exactly legal, Luke's never been one to worry about that sort of thing. Especially when it puts him behind the wheel of a Porsche 911 and onto the radar of gorgeous socialite named Rain.
Clara Bertelli is at the top of her game-at only twenty-six years old, she's one of the most successful undercover officers in the Washington D.C. major crime unit, and she's just been handed a case that could catapult her career and expose one of the west coast's most notorious car theft rings. But, in order to do it, she'll need to go deep undercover as Rain Martines. Her target? The twenty-four-year old nephew of a key player who appears ready to follow in his uncle's footsteps.
As Clara drifts deeper into the luxurious lifestyle of Rain, and further into the arms of her very attractive and charming target, the lines between right and wrong start to blur, making her wonder if she'll be able to leave it all behind. Or if she'll even want to.
GOODREADS -- Becoming Rain
Available MARCH 3, 2015
I received a copy of this book in exchange for a honest review.
If you want to know what this story is about read the book blurb (posted up there for your convenience)... if you want to know more, then you're going to have to read the book.
This is definitely one of those books that I really don't want to explain the story any further because it would (in my opinion) take away some of thrill you get from just diving into.
First things first, K.A. Tucker is a fantastic writer!
We had proof of that in the Ten Tiny Breaths series... and then she blew my mind with Burying Water. Then I read Becoming Rain... like I said
If you are familiar with Burying Water than you'll remember Luke Boone as Jesse's best friend. Becoming Rain continues with some of the dangerous goings on we had come to discover in Burying Water. BUT while they are similar in that regard, that is where the similarities end.
While Burying Water was full of Mystery, for me Becoming Rain was all about the SUSPENSE. The further Clara goes undercover as Rain the more tangled the web gets, and the more desperate I was to turn the page.
While the story was phenomenal, the character development was my favorite. Both Luke and Clara have some fantastic layering to their personality and as we get to know them, it's kind of impossible not to swoon for Luke Boone and want to get to know Clara.
Clara is a strong and determined female. She is obviously intelligent and striving for more in her career something she holds onto throughout the story despite her feelings for Luke changing.
We get a peek at how Jesse and Alex/Water are faring as well which was an awesome treat.
From beginning to the last words of the epilogue, Becoming Rain had me hooked and wanting more. I still want more! Upon closing my reader, I felt the urge to applaud at how well it was ended. There were so many little things that surprised me that I was involuntarily gasping aloud.
So of course, now I'm going to be on pins and needles until we get to read Tucker's next book. I'll be the first in line for it.
It will be out in just a few weeks, so preorder now using the links above so you don't have to wait any longer than necessary to read it. In the meantime if you haven't checked out Burying Water (the first book in the series) here's the link to my review of that one.
