This is not the way love is supposed to start… is it? When arriving in Scotland, Aiden Jacobson is ready to take on the task of setting up Cole Enterprise’s newest underground headquarters. But when their most-wanted criminal, Robert de Fleur, goes into hiding, Aiden is placed undercover at a local coffee shop. His mission—gather intel from Brenda Anderson, sister of Robert de Fleur, while posing as a barista at The Grounded Bean. Coffee shop owner Brenda Anderson needs all the help she can get when it comes to keeping the Bean up and running. Unaware of his ulterior motives, Brenda brings the mysterious and handsome Aiden in with only one thing on her mind… Airen. Maybe her gypsy-souled niece wouldn’t wander quite so far if she had someone like Aiden to keep her grounded. Thrown together by circumstance, Airen becomes part of Aiden’s mission when Robert de Fleur emerges from hiding, demanding something none of them can give. Knowing Robert won’t stop until he gets what he wants, Aiden is ordered to stick as close as possible to keep an eye on them. Staying at Brenda’s seems to be the simplest solution… until he wakes up in Airen’s bed. Making a valiant attempt to shove his growing feelings aside, Aiden forces himself to walk away and protect Airen from afar. Unfortunately, his plan backfires, and Robert de Fleur uses that weakness to make his move. Kicking himself for allowing his feelings to get in the way of the mission, Aiden sets out to do what he should have done all along… take out Robert de Fleur once and for all. Can Aiden stick to the mission, or will Airen tear down every defense he puts in place and gain complete entrance to his heart?

This Book Nerd Says:
When I heard about the premise of this series I decided to leap into it and give IF EVER I FALL a read. Normally I always insist on starting a series from the beginning , but with this one I broke my own rule. I do regret it slightly because as soon as I started it I knew I was going to wish I would have read the first two books in the series before reading this one. This series follows the stories of a group of six friends so by starting this book without the true and full backstory left me feeling like I cheated myself a bit. HOWEVER... I still enjoyed it! The action and suspense made this read different than a typical love story, I found it to be a standout feature above everything else.
"Dating wasn't in the cards for me. Falling in love? I had too many other important things going on in my life to throw something like that into the mix."
It was his character that drew me in from the very beginning and for the rest of the book it was truly just an enjoyable ride getting to know the layers of his character. I did enjoy Airen, but it took me longer to warm up to her character than I had thought it would. Needless to say when we got more of a peek at "The Six" it just confirmed my feelings that I needed to know more about that friendship and the history because from what I saw it's one of the good ones.
"What sort of friend does that?"
"The kind of friend who would put everything on the line to save him. Even when it's from himself."
I will admit it took me a while to get sucked into the story and I had to get used to reading the accent for a while (by the end I definitely had it down pact and stuck in my head lol). But for my first reading experience with this author and the series, I was pleased. I plan on reading the other books when I have time and then maybe give this one a reread and see how it changes my initial thoughts. But for now I'm giving this one a solid 3 Stars !
It's available for purchase now so if you've been waiting for it it's only a click away. If you haven't read the series yet, you might want to start at the beginning and then move on to this one.
To celebrate the release of her book the author, Sonya Loveday, has generously offered to gift a copy of If Ever I Fall to one of you! All you have to do is enter via the Rafflecopter below. Sonya Loveday, first and foremost is a reader, an avid one. It is of that love that brought her to purchasing her first laptop in 2009, and publishing her first novel, Casted, in 2013.
In early 2014, Sonya expanded Casted and then went on to publish Spelled, the sequel to Casted in March, wrapping up the series, and her stint with Paranormal Romance. For now.
Not long after the completion to the Casted Series, Sonya tried her hand at New Adult/Coming of Age, a sub-genre of Contemporary Romance. Thusly, the Six were born with The Summer I Fell, which released at the end of July 2014. The demand from readers was instantaneously, which brought about End Note, the second book of the series in December 2014.
To date, Sonya lives in Central Florida with her husband, and two kids, and is currently working on the fourth book of the Six Series and a super secret project with fellow author Candace Knoebel. Be sure to keep an eye out for upcoming news on Sonya's website!
