A man out for revenge…

When Alexander Volkow raced into Crossroads, Alabama and bought up half of Broad Street, the entire town questioned his motives, but he didn’t care. He did it for one reason and only one reason — to find the man who went AWOL from the military with his brother, Kon. Knowing Kon, something is terribly wrong, and Alex is set on retribution.

But when all roads lead to the town’s favorite daughter, who just happens to be the missing man’s fiancée, Alex can’t help but be mesmerized by her alluring southern charm and sexy little snort.

A woman searching for a way out...

No amount of bartending, snake charming, or organic cotton growing can stop the fear blooming inside Polly Anna Coots. She knows if her MIA fiancée is found alive, he’ll want to follow through with their marriage plans, but she has had a change of heart — and not just because of the new man she can’t get out of her head. If her fiancée returns and she reneges on their future, she’ll end up DOA.

When one of Polly Anna’s snakes runs Alex off the road, sparks fly, and the two embark on a steamy collision course in a small town filled with secrets that add fuel to the smoldering fire.

Can either one of them get just close enough to acquire what they need from the other without falling in love?

*Can be read as a stand alone.*

This Book Nerd Says:

What do you get when a hard edged bow tie wearing Russian crosses path with a snake charming southern belle?

Alex came into Crossroads, Alabama with one objective. He wants answers. His brother has gone MIA during a tour of duty and the last man he was known to be with just happens to be the fiance of the beautiful blonde Polly Anna.
Polly Anna is less concerned with the fact that her fiance Billy has disappeared, she's much more worried about what will happen when he returns.
Polly matches Alex's bluster and bark, giving him a dose of her own southern bite. The two of them are seemingly pulled into a pull of attraction that is too strong for either of them to resist despite the fact that neither of them is ready for what is looming ahead of them. But the closer they come together the harder it is to be apart.

This was an introductory read to this author or this series so I trusted the standalone label. Unsure of what I would get exactly, at close of the book I was pretty well satisfied. It had a lot of elements that I love and make for a good plot. I found the introduction to be humorous and it pulled me pretty firmly into the story. The ending was wrapped up nicely with now dangling cliffy's and instead a smile sweeter than sweet tea.

That being said it was the middle that kept this from being a four star read for me. I mentioned before that there was a lot of elements in this story, well these elements sometimes were a bit too much and left me wishing for a bit more focus to the drama.  That's totally just my feeling though and I could also see how other people would love it. All the drama was well executed... it was just a lot of well executed drama.

Overall I gave this book 3 Stars!!
