It doesn't help that his new job isn't going as smoothly as he'd hoped, but he knows he can power through it as long as he has Wes. At least apartment 10B is their retreat, where they can always be themselves.

Or can they? When Wes's noisiest teammate moves in upstairs, the threads of their carefully woven lie begin to unravel. With the outside world determined to take its best shot at them, can Wes and Jamie develop major-league relationship skills on the fly?

SPOTLIGHT REVIEW... Too Far To Care by Jen Luerssen

Jane Prior is a bike messenger in San Francisco. Cute, driven, fun but horrible at relationships. When Jane puts her heart out there she gets an unwelcome response, and is crushed. A day later, she meets someone who heals her heartbreak. She and her best friend TJ attend a wedding together and both meet the possible "ones." The only catch is that they both live thousands of miles away in Ireland.
Niall is a charming, handsome pub owner who's very loyal to his family and country. He and Jane have instant chemistry, lust and laughs.
They decide to try  long distance relationship.
Can Jane and Niall make a really, really long distance work?
Have they fallen far enough?

*I received a copy of this book via the author in exchange for an honest review*

This Book Nerd Says:

When the author sent me this book she told me it was a romantic comedy. So its safe to say I walked into this story expecting some humor.
What I got was some truly laugh out loud dialogue and hearty chuckle filled moments. Jane is a bike messenger in San Fran who has an extremely fun and colorful cast of friends. After her current becomes her ex, she's looking for something to help pull her out of her funk...
Enter Niall.
He's handsome, charming, fun... oh and he's Irish. (Did I mention I have a thing for that accent?) When their chemistry pulls them together for a night... and then another... the time for Niall to return to Ireland and his pub comes all too swiftly.
Deciding that they don't want to let go off their connection they decided to take their budding relationship cross continental.

I mentioned I loved the humor of the book but it wasn't my favorite part. My favorite aspect would have to be the imperfect reality of any relationship but especially one that has the added pressures of long distance separation. The come together and fall apart moments were a bit face palm worthy at times BUT I could see the why very clearly throughout the story.

My very most favorite thing about this story though... Niall.
Did you that one coming?
Well he's definitely a charming feature that I adored. His character held a maturity that didn't compete with the fun lighthearted moments that his character brought along.

It wasn't a long read and the story moves along quickly with a full wrap up and resolution at the conclusion. Overall I'm giving this story 3.5 Stars.

About DARE ME:
Five coworkers. Four drinks. Three glances. Two fleeting smiles. One dare. A dare that will change my life. That’s all it takes to send me plummeting into the arms of the mysterious Holt Hamilton. Behind his crystal blue eyes is a secret, one that screams danger but calls to me anyway. My name is Saige Phillips. I never walk away from a dare.

“I was watching you, Saige. I enjoy watching you.” Maybe that was bold of me, but I don’t care. She audibly gasps, her chest rising and falling with each quick breath she takes. I fix my eyes on hers and continue. “And I saw you watching me.” Her upper lip twitches as she thinks of a sarcastic comeback. I can see the vein in her neck throbbing, along with the beat of her pulse before she finally whispers, “We shouldn’t do this.” She pulls a green olive off the toothpick floating in her martini, then she pops it into her mouth. The green olive matches her eyes perfectly. I watch her shift uncomfortably in her chair for a few seconds before I respond. “Why not?” “Because you’re my boss.” So na├»ve, sweet little Saige is. “I’m actually not,” I tell her. She frowns. “You own the company I work for, same thing.” I clarify, “I’m part owner of the company you work for.” She sighs. “Holt, this is just drinks. That’s all.” But her eyes tell me she wants more. I lean closer to her.
“It’s never just drinks, Saige.”

Reagan Landry is months away from college graduation, but instead of excitement, she’s frozen by the fear of letting go — of her ex-boyfriend, of the comfortable life she created for herself in Portland, of the years-long search for her older sister who abandoned her as a homeless teen. When she’s finally forced to decide what’s next, Reagan is met with another complication — her ex’s best friend, Noah Burke, who seems determined that she embraces what could be instead of what has been.   Drunkenly hooking up with his best friend’s ex, Reagan, is a mistake, but being secretly in love with her is so much worse when things seem one-sided. A disenchanted frat boy about to fail out of college, Noah has been living out someone else’s dream after a horrible accident five years earlier. Just when he thinks he’s lost any chance he has with Reagan, she surprises him by agreeing to spend the summer together at his family’s ranch in Montana.   And suddenly what started out as a complication between them becomes serious...until the past starts ripping apart their future.

Exclusive Excerpt:
Books, that’s all I notice of her room. That, and Reagan’s reddened eyes glaring back at me. “You going to let me in?” I ask, my arms stretched straight against her doorjamb. She frowns, her hand clasped tightly over her bedroom door. “No.” I don’t know if anything has ever sounded so finite. It feels like shit to be the guy she doesn’t want. “You’ve known about them, Rea. It shouldn’t be a surprise.” I look behind me down the stairs, not sure if Ethan or Hunter are still in the living room. “Let me in.” I lean in, my voice a forced whisper. “I’m not talking about this out here.” “I’m not talking about this at all. Nothing happened.” She glances behind her at the rabbit bouncing around in its cage as if she wished it were a guard dog. She can shut down another day, but not tonight. I wedge myself in the door and step inside. Reagan clutches her tea, her shoulders squared against me. “Get out.” I shut the door and fall back against the wall. “I will. Tell me again after you set down your tea and admit you’ll let him go.” “I don’t have to tell you anything.” “Then don’t.” I close the distance between us, caught up on the sight of her mouth and the bangs that are too long and hide her eyes. I swear she wears them that way on purpose. “Where’s your paper?” she asks. “We’re going to work on that now?” “Why not? I have the rest of my life available now.” I arch my brow. That’s awfully dramatic, even for her. “It’s a date.” “How long have you known about Beau and Matisse?” “When I moved him in. It’s pretty fucking obvious.” When she stares back, her eyes wide, I feel like such an asshole. “Give it up. You’re never going to date him again. You need me to keep saying it?” Reagan runs up and shoves my chest, her forgotten tea spilling all over me. “I don’t know what the fuck your problem is, but shut up.” She shoves me again, my head knocking back against her door. “Leave me alone. I want you to fucking stay away from me.” Her hands clench at my shirt, her breathing heavy. I open my mouth but she silences me, pushing me back again. I take it. I take her anger and the broken look haunting her eyes. I breathe it in because I might not deserve Reagan, but I deserve her hate. “Noah,” she says, her voice shaking. My hand slowly slides to hold her waist. Her arms stiffen, pinning me to the door. “Stay away.” I grab her cup and head downstairs to an empty house. I spot the twelve-pack in the kitchen and haul it back upstairs. She comes out of her bathroom, wiping her face roughly with the heel of her hands. “I get why you’re flunking now,” she says, walking around me to sink down onto her mattress. “All this time I thought you were smart and not applying yourself. You’re just an idiot. Get. Out.” “Can’t. Hard of hearing.” I crack open a beer and sit on her bed, beside her. “You’ll be okay, you know?” “I swear to God, Noah, if you don’t get off my bed…” I turn to her, curious. Her hands grab my face, not gentle. There’s nothing gentle about her. She’s a human cactus. Then her mouth crashes against mine, rough and searching. And I make the biggest fucking mistake of my life and kiss her back like I’ve wanted.

She was nothing, then everything. That's how the minutes fell to collide into my world.

Her life had never been a fairy tale. Adopted at birth, Isabella never felt like she fit in. All she ever wanted was a happy family and a love of her own. When she suddenly became a single mother of two, her life changed for the worst until she ran into a handsome stranger. A billionaire playboy, Gabriel had lived a charmed life. Never one to settle down, he didn’t understand why he was drawn to this woman he knew his father would never accept. Still, one date leads to another and suddenly he had the life he never knew he always wanted. Together, their life was perfect, until the lies were exposed. Then, their happily ever after couldn’t be further away.

This Book Nerd Says:

Fairy tales don't come true... at least they don't for Isabella Parker. Seeing and feeling heartbreak from an early age, she's become a master at burying her emotions even leaving her beloved outlet of photography lacking... her life is lacking the one thing she still dreams of.

A chance meeting with Gabriel, the charming billionaire from Canada, changes her life as she knows it. What was thought to be chance turns out to be fate as the two are drawn together faster by a pull much stronger than either of them had anticipated.

Fairy tale right?

The problem lies with the most important part of Isabella's life... her children. When they try to blend their worlds, Isabella's trust is put to the test just as much as Gabriel's honesty.
The drama was expected but also resolved much quicker than I anticipated which I think was a relief to me by this point as I had been anticipating the fall out moment for the majority of the book.

The characters were fun. I could easily see the potential story line for the subsequent books in the series, and I had a few standout favorites that I'm interested in reading more about in time. The story was an easy read... not too much drama, not too much angst... overall being just a fun sweet read about two people who weren't looking for each other but found everything they needed and the encouragement to dream and dream bigger.

If you're in the mood for a sweet read and dose of your hero falling in love with the woman and the kids... check it out!

I'm giving FIRST A DREAM... 3.5 Stars!

While coming out of her hazy sleep, Isabella stretched slightly and felt an arm tighten around her mid section. She happily reached down to touch him and slowly opened her eyes to find Gabriel staring at her, propped on his side. “How long have you been awake?” She rubbed at her eyes. “I don’t know. I’ve just been lying here studying you.” His lazy smile caused her to blush. Then Gabriel leaned down to graze her cheek with his lips, sending a ripple down her spine. Isabella looked away, giving him the perfect opportunity to run his fingers down her neck. She shivered again. “Stop! I can’t even think with you touching me.” She grinned and covered herself with the sheet. “So, what shall we do today?” She tried to change the subject in order to pull herself back together. It had been so long since she had been caressed and cherished. “You don’t like me touching you?” “Au contraire. I love your touch. I’m ridiculously attracted to you, but…” She frowned as she tried to figure out how to explain the emotions she battled. “There’s always a but.” He chuckled. “It’s scary getting intimate with someone new.” Isabella sat up and shrugged. “And once we start, there’s no going back. I’m afraid of going too fast, not savoring, missing out on all those glorious stages before the big show.” Gabriel tugged at his goatee. “Impressive analogy. We’ll take our time, my Bella. I want to savor every moment with you. Does that help?” “It does. It’s just that…it’s different for me. When we do this, I’m not simply sharing my body, I’m sharing my heart.”

FIVE STAR REVIEW... Behind Her Smile by Olivia Luck

David and Karolina Morgan have the perfect marriage. He runs a financial empire catering to Miami's most influential and she is the darling socialite, adored by her husband and all those that meet her.

But underneath the lavish home, expensive car and exquisite jewelry lies a darkness threatening to consume Karolina. The once vivacious fashion design student has become a shadow of herself at the hands of her manipulative husband.

Then, with the flick of a power switch, everything changes. Karolina must learn to fight back when she discovers her entire existence is one big sham, with dire consequences

This Book Nerd Says:

Five years ago Karolina met two men. One was an angel... the other, a devil. But both men would change her life in unimaginable ways.
You know those stories that capture your attention and refuse to let your interest go until well after you read the ending words? Well this was one of those books for me.
It's heavy and dark at times but the constant presence of a light of hope laying just beyond the next page kept me turning... kept me on the edge of my seat.

Appearances are deceiving and we soon realize that Karolina's life is far from the perfect facade that the Miami elite perceives. Alternating seamlessly between past and present we get a good amount of how Karolina got here... and how she was going to get out.

Of course, where there's a villain there's a hero... but I can't spoil all the fun. You'll have to read and find out for yourself... but I will say that I enjoy the hero a whole lot... like 5 star a lot.

What I enjoyed even more than the hero was the growth of determination that Karolina had. I loved the grip she had on her dreams and the fact that she she found herself chasing them down despite the setbacks and push backs that she experienced.
The second chance friendship was an emotional dark horse for me... watching Karolina develop a genuine friendship was just as important as her getting a chance to really experience a genuine and loving romantic relationship.

I could say more but I won't because I think that this is one of those 'less is more' books, the less you know the more you'll enjoy it.
I am giving Behind Her Smile... 5 Stars!

Check it out and let me know how you enjoyed it.

Spotlight Review... The Weight Of Rain by Mariah Dietz

One night changed my life—one that I barely remember.

When I close my eyes, my mind paints a picture of his smile and shades the contours of his hands, the deep scar around his bicep.

I'm an artist, yet my hands are unsteady. With his presence, he has unknowingly broken that something inside of me that makes me who I am.

Being around him is like standing in a rainstorm. First the drops tickle my skin, and then they coat me, refusing to be ignored. Finally, they soak into me, reaching parts of me I don’t think anyone has ever touched.

When dreams turn into reality, will the picture in my mind transfer to paper?

This Book Nerd Says:

So can we have a moment of truth... I totally forgot the synopsis of this book before I started to read it. I had one clicked it when it first released but I started reading it without a real reminder of what I was about to walk into...
I was very pleasantly satisfied.
Lauren has come to Oregon from the Midwest with the sole purpose of pursuing her dreams of being an artist. After an antitypical night of letting her guard down with a stranger, she can't stop thinking about him. She only remembers a name...
When her sometimes friendly sometimes not roommate recommends her for a Nanny job. Lo is taught about friendship, family, and love from many surprising sources.

While some of the story I predicted there was much more that I didn't really foresee coming and that made it all even sweeter. First off can we say that I am in love with little Mercedes. Her sass and spunk is only matched by her tender heart. I love the way that Lo slowly but persistently broke down the barriers and taught her to overcome the hurtful words of bullies... it was strengthening to both characters and gave even us readers a take away reminder.

The relationship between Lo and King definitely had a slow simmer after their reunion. But I loved King's no nonsense approach after he set his mind on seeing their relationship through.

"I won't take advantage of you, but I need your trust, and I need you to stop trying to set me up to fail."

While Lo's hesitation and feels the desire to cut and run frustrated me at times... throughout the story I gained such a clearer perspective on why Lo reacted the way she did. It's hard to accept love when you spend much of your life feeling unlovable.
What I loved most about Lo and King's relationship was the fact that they pushed each other to find their own greatness in pursuit of their individual dreams. A lot of that maturity came from King (adding to my reasons that I love him).

The only thing that kept this at 4 stars was that I felt it was a little too slow in the beginning to get to the first set of revelations and it got a little repetitive but once the ball got rolling it just kept getting better and better.

It's available now so go and check it out and let me know what you think!

Intense. Devoted. Protective. Michael Sloan is all of the above, with a hard tough edge to boot. He's not the guy he used to be. Years ago, before all the s&%t went down, he was laidback, carefree, and even happy-go-lucky. Life changed him. Hardened him. There's one woman though who can break down his walls. Someone who knew him then. Who can reach inside to that heart he protects fiercely...because she's the only one he ever gave it to. When they collide, it's tender and savage, gentle and rough, and makes them both hungry for more of this electric, once-in-a-blue moon kind of sexual chemistry. But it's a battle of wills between Michael and the woman he loves, with words and emotions held close to the vest. She doesn't believe she can ever move on from her own heartache, but when Michael makes her feel for the first time in years, it's both thrilling and scares the hell out of her, setting off all her flight instincts. He's determined not to lose her again, but he'll have to learn to let her in if he ever wants to fully heal from the past... The problem is, she knows something about the night his family shattered. She has the missing puzzle piece...but neither one of them realizes it. YET.

SINFUL LOVE is the fourth and final book in the steamy, sexy, suspenseful New York Times Bestselling Sinful Nights series from Lauren Blakely, author of the wildly popular Seductive Nights series...   Sinful Love - Full cover wrap

  Chapter One
The letter smelled like her. Like rain. He ran his thumb over the corner of the paper, and closed his eyes briefly. Memories rose to the surface, feeling like hope and possibility. Far too risky things when it came to her. Michael shut them down, opened his eyes, and stared out the floor-to-ceiling windows of his penthouse on the Strip, trying to focus on the here and now, not the enticing lure of what if. Soon, the lights of Vegas would blink like a carnival unfolding below him, from the miniature Eiffel Tower, to the pyramid, to the blazing signs adorning The Cosmopolitan. Neon, glitz, and billboards ten stories high whispered of the best nights ever. He had to stay fixed on the minute details of the present, not be seduced by the past, and how good it was. Or of how much he’d longed for a future with her. But he wasn’t having the easiest time of that. From his vantage point, twenty stories above the concrete ribbon that beckoned millions of tourists, he brought the letter to his nose for one final inhale. The scent of falling rain. Try as he might, he gave in. A reel of sensory images rushed back to him in an instant from years ago, like the snap, snap, snap of old film. How many times had he kissed Annalise in the rain? Brushed her wild red hair off her cheeks, touched her soft skin? Listened to her laugh? Countless. Just like the times he’d lingered on her over the years, even after that day in Marseilles ten years ago that had damn near slaughtered all his hope left in the world. Carefully, he folded up the letter, slid it back into the tiny envelope postmarked from France, and stuffed it into his wallet, next to a crinkled, faded, threadbare note from his father that he’d carried with him through all the years. Her letter had arrived two weeks ago, and he’d read it a thousand times already. He could read it a thousand more times, but it wouldn’t change his answer. The same one he’d emailed back to her. Yes. It was always yes with her.

Catching To Win Cover

Kelsey O'Brien is the definition of a free spirit. She goes where she wants, when she wants, and takes to bed who she wants. And when she arrives back at Grover University after eight months on an African animal preserve, its her newly hunky best friend that has caught her eye. As their friendship turns physical, Kelsey begins to form feelings she swore she'd never have for anyone. But when the past she's not ready to face finds her, she must make a decision whether to stop running, or confront the truth. The first time Clint Bellows laid eyes on Kelsey, he fell hard. Too bad she looked right through him. A year and countless hours in the gym later, she's back and hardly recognizes him and his new body. After a drunken encounter takes them over the line of friendship, Clint agrees to Kelsey's proposal of a benefits-added relationship. Only he's playing for keeps, and is willing to round all of the bases trying to score the self-proclaimed gypsy. She's running from her demons. He's committed to winning her over.
Can he catch her in time, or will she be out of his grasp before he can blink?

This Book Nerd Says:

When I tell you that I was highly anticipating this one's release you might not understand the depth of that need if you haven't read the previous two books in the series (go check those out if you haven't!). This series kicked off with two trios of best friends... I bet you can guess what happens next. But what is great about this series is the fun and distinct personalities that each couple has... but for the first two books one two of the things that caught me eye consistently were Kelsey and Owen.

Now I'm going to sound a bit biased here and I'm going to own it. Owen is my favorite of the guys in the series. I mean he's all the good any girl could want in a book boyfriend and so I had a few moments of "C'mon Kelsey!" moments fueled by my protective love of the sweet and sexy catcher.

Owen fell for Kelsey at first sight. Kelsey... not so much. Her wandering gypsy spirit refuses to put down roots anywhere, rather going where the wind blows her. Her friendship with Owen is special to her, but her tough facade keeps her from showing her vulnerable heart to anyone. Despite my frustrations with her at times, her character had some beautiful flaws that really made me understand her and her actions.

Back to Owen *wink wink*. He's my favorite thing about this story easily. I enjoyed that we got to see the "transformation" aspect from the male P.O.V. so very much. We don't always get stories that give our leading men self esteem issues. The very prologue seized my feelings for Owen and inflated them to "oh my gosh can I just hug him" proportions.

This read was fun... with surprising moments of true emotion. I appreciate that even with the expected drama - it doesn't drag on and on. Aarons gives us the drama but she also brings mature resolution fitting for the New Adult label. It's definitely my favorite book of the series (so far anyway, Parker anyone?!).

I am giving this one 4 Stars.
And since its Monday, Owen is most certainly my MAN CRUSH MONDAY book boyfriend candidate for the day.

Book description:
Crazy how eight years can disappear in an instant. One look at Katie Watts, and I'm a fifteen-year-old again--the one who risked everything to save a terrified girl from her twisted kidnapper. She's grown-up now--beautiful, quiet, composed--and telling her story to the world. A story that involves me in more ways than you can imagine. She used to call me her guardian angel. Sure, I risked my life, but she was worth dying for.

I need to make contact with her. Just to ensure that she's safe.

Somehow we reconnect. We become friends . . . but I want more. I want to make her mine. And she wants me too. Does she know who I am? Has she figured me out? Not yet. But she will. In the meantime, I need to make sure that whatever hold that animal had on her is gone.

So, yeah, I'm stealing these moments with her. Savoring them. Knowing, dreading, that she'll soon find out who I really am. And everything will fall apart. All because of that twisted, perverted monster sitting on death row. Her kidnapper. A convicted serial killer.

My father.

This Book Nerd Says:

If the synopsis doesn’t hook you (IT ABSOLUTELY HOOKED ME) then the story will. I couldn’t put it down once I started. It’s a story that launches from something so very dark but the darkness never overwhelms the story. It’s fixed firmly on Will and Katie… their story of survival. It’s a story that has continued eight years after Katie endures the worst kind of darkness and depravity at the hand of a serial killer.

Katie and Will’s relationship is so profound. I found myself so emotionally invested that I wanted to interject every time something or someone threatens to pull them apart. Their bond may be inexplicable to others in their lives, but to me, the reader… it was one of the deepest bonds and one of the most touching love stories I’ve read lately.
Don’t be fooled. There is a love story here. Pure and raw. Blossoming despite everything that could suffocate it…

In the same line as the ripped from the headlines stories and tv shows, NEVER TEAR US APART takes us on a completely fresh route. Instead of focusing solely on the what happened during… we are taken to the what happens after. The changes Katie goes through and the way the world around her perceives her and how it makes the way Will treats her stand out even further.

It’s love and betrayal despite love kind of story. But it’s also a story of survival and quite simply put… living
I am desperately waiting for book 2 now.
